Now the Winter League season have finished, thoughts turn to the County Summer League.
The format for this is different to the Winter Leagues - mixed teams of 4, no post match food, 1 or 2 divisions (depending on number of teams), end of season playoffs, best of 5 games (PAR scoring to 15 (sudden death at 14 all)).
As guidance, the Summer League is suitable for players who played in the Winter League teams and/or in Division 6 and above in the main internal leagues, and is an ideal way for players aspiring to play team squash to get involved.
To allow for holidays etc, a squad of at least 10 is needed. Depending on responses, Northern could field up to 3 mixed (male/female/junior) teams. These will be parallel teams (ie separate squads) and home matches will be mid-week (Tuesdays/Wednesdays/Thursdays), with away matches likely to be Mondays to Thursdays. Cost for each match will be £3.50 per player to cover home match court fees.
It is proposed matches will start week commencing 2nd June and the likelihood is each team will have a match nearly every week through the Summer, with playoffs taking place early/mid-September (prior to Winter Leagues starting). .
If you want to be considered for one of the squads, please reply to me before Sunday 18th May (which is the deadline to submit the number of teams to County). If you have a preference for home match night(s), please let me know and I'll try to accommodate when creating the squads. .
