Northern is hosting an England Squash Markers Awareness Workshop on Thursday June 5th, starting at 6.30 pm in the back room of the upstairs bar.
About the workshop
This two-hour practical workshop, delivered by an England Squash tutor, aims to bring together all players of any age and ability, for an informal, social, practical and collaborative session.
England Squash qualified and trained referee tutors have years of experience on the squash circuit and are fully understand the latest World Squash Officiating rules and practices.
Why players should attend
- Gain fresh perspectives and practical advice to elevate marking knowledge and enhance their own game.
- Improve understanding of the rules of squash and interpretation of no let/let/stoke situations.
- Develop strategies and tactics to minimise and confidently resolve decisions without interference and influence.
- Get the lowdown on the correct terminology and standard match announcements.
- Enhance players’ and your own club’s reputation for upholding marking best practice.
- Understand when to impose the code of conduct (e.g. warning or stroke) and how to deal effectively with unacceptable conduct.
- Get inspired and discover how to become a referee.
The workshop is open to all and is particularly relevant to players participating in tournaments and team matches (when they may be expected to mark matches), and internal league matches when the two players on court are effectively marking their own match.
Please use the event link on the Northern Wazygoose home page to confirm attendance. Although there is a charge of £5 to register, this will be refunded to your Wazygoose account once you have attended the workshop. There is a maximum limit of 20 attendees.
