Northern Squash Club Squash Committee
The remit of the Squash Committee is to pursue the interests of the club and members and ensue a healthy and thriving squash section at the club. The committee meets on a regular basis to plan upcoming events, review the ongoing management of the squash section, and plan future improvements to the club.
Squash Committee Members
The members of the committee are from a wide range of disciplines in the club. New committee members are accepted by agreement from the existing committee members.
-
Clive Lucas
Squash Committee Chairman
Clive has been involved in squash for over 30 years as a player, coach, and club manager. He uses his considerable experience to help make Northern Squash Club the best that it can be. He aims to continue the fantastic work done by his predecessors in the roles, Tony Brett and Derek Collins.
Although originally from the Manchester area, Clive now resides in Newcastle and views it as his home. He has been a member of Northern Squash Club for a number of years and in his own words, "I've enjoyed every minute of it and have gained some great friends."

Sarah Howson
Squash Committee Secretary
Sarah started playing squash only three years ago but has progressed up the ranks quickly. She has been an active player in both the internal leagues and the Ladies squash teams, although she has suffered injuries which have curtailed her squash activities somewhat. Never-the-less, she perseveres and can still play an excellent game of squash when injuries allow.
Sarah has served on the committee for some time now and recently took over as committee secretary when Wayne Eastaugh moved on to be the League Manager.

Michelle Robertson
Club Official Photographer
Michelle has played in the Ladies Teams at Northern for several years and has even made appearances for the County Over 40’s (when they have been very desperate!!) Having initially started playing squash at Kingston Springs and being married to another ‘squashy’ she knows many of the faces around the Club and the County.
She joined the Committee in 2011 and is keen to represent our female members. A professional photographer by day, Michelle is often asked to take photographs at club events. She has also taken on the role of ‘Internal Competitions Organiser’ putting on fun squash tournaments throughout the year.
-
Wayne Eastaugh
League Secretary
Wayne took over as secretary of the internal leagues at Northern when the previous league secretary, Andy Lee, emigrated to Lanzarote. Before taking over, Wayne worked closely with Andy to develop the Wazygoose League Management system to power the leagues.
Wayne took up squash in his mid-twenties and aims to improve on his solid mid-table form (receiving weekly coaching from Derek Collins certainly helps!). Before coming to Northern, Wayne played squash in Preston and Manchester, playing Team Squash for Springfields Club near Preston and regularly playing at the National Squash Centre at SportCity in Manchester.

David's squash career started in 1981 in Cheshire before moving to the North-East in 1990. Before joining Northern, David played at Ponteland, Kingston Park (rugby club) and Northumberland Club (Jesmond). He currently plays in the Northern Internal Leagues and Men's 5th team and also manages to find time to manage the Junior 2nd team.
-
Anthony Cummings
Anthony joined the committee in late 2011, replacing a retiring member. He fitted in straight away and took up a position to support Wayne Eastaugh in the management of the internal leagues.
Anthony started playing squash in his late teens, and after a couple of years playing regular friendlies he joined Crowtree Squash Club. He played team squash for Crowtree before moving to Northern in 2010. His aim is to achieve a regular mid-table position and progress into team squash.
-
Allan Curry
Alan has been playing squash for over twenty five years and manages to arrange the odd game whilst inter-spacing his granddad role. He is in every sense a troubled soul, having been a Newcastle United supporter for over forty years and wonders if he will ever see the Magpies win anything!
As well as his Squash Committee duties Allan currently manages the Northern Squash Club Mens' 4th team.
-
Joyce Dalziel
Joyce has played squash for over 30 years. For a number of years she represented Northern Squash Club Ladies, playing for, and also captaining the 2nd and 3rd teams.
Her squash playing was halted by a knee injury, but she continues to keep a keen interest in the Ladies teams and serves an active part on the Squash Committee.
